The anticipation was killing her. Luc had promised to take her somewhere special, only he didn’t say where. The blindfold he had put over her eyes, while they flew, didn’t help. For a moment she wondered if he was kidnapping her and stealing her away from the rest of the world. Of course, she didn’t mind the escape. After all everything that had taken place in the past few months, she needed the break.
“Alright, you can look.”
Abby reached up to Luc’s hands and peeled them off her, then ripped the blindfold away. The blinding light was almost too much for her after the encompassing darkness. Once her eyes had adjusted to the light, she gasped.
An emerald green ocean stretched on for miles and miles. The sun hovered on the horizon setting the ocean on fire. Abby smiled and turned. She pressed her lips to Luc’s and spun around. Her arms enclosed around him holding him to her.
“This place is beautiful.”
“I knew you would like it.”
Abby smiled and pulled away from him. Her eyes scanned the desolate landscape of hills and green marshes.
“Where are we exactly?”
“Ireland.”
“What?! When did we get here?”
“Awhile. But I guess the flight didn’t bother you.”
“I don’t remember getting on a plane.”
“Silly girl, we have wings.” Abby blushed realizing to whom she was talking. Of course, he had flown them here. He was a dragon, after all, and so was she, now.
“I still can’t believe it,” she said shaking her head. Abby took her arms off from around Luc and stepped next to him, to take in the view.
“Neither can I, but I’m not one to question fate. I figured that after all the years I’ve waited for you and fought for you that the universe has finally given you to me.”
Abby reached up onto her tiptoes and planted a kiss on Luc’s cheek.
“I love you Abby. I hope you know that.”
“You don’t have to hope. I know you do.”
“But?” Luc’s eyes dropped. Abby knew he could sense her inhibitions.
“But why are we here?” she asked looking around them.
“Well, you’re a dragon now. So, you are going to have to learn a few things. This place is the best spot for me to teach you.”
“Really?” Abby nearly jumped out of her skin. Her body trembled with excitement. She tried to hold herself together as Luc laughed at her.
“So, what would you like to learn how to do first? Flying? Fire breathing? Enchantment?”
Abby stopped trembling and stared at Luc dumbfounded. “Enchantment?”
“How do you think we can shift in front of humans without them freaking out? We use a little enchantment to make them see something else.”
“Have you ever used it on me?”
“Once or twice, but not in this life,” Luc admitted bashfully. His cheeks flushed red as his eyes dropped to the ground.
Abby shook her head and grinned, “Well aren’t you naughty.”
“I can be,” Luc winked as his the corner of his lip curled up.
Abby didn’t need an invitation. The spark in his eyes told her everything she wanted to know. She lifted her hands up and proceeded to unbutton her blouse exposing her chest to the elements.
“What are you doing?” Luc asked keeping his eyes locked on the bare skin that Abby revealed to him.
“Being naughty.”
“What about your lessons?” Luc teased, wondering if he could divert Abby’s attention elsewhere. But they both knew her mind was made up as she slipped out of her pants and stood bare before him.
“Maybe I have a few lessons to teach you,” she said.
Luc reached out for her and pulled her to him. His lips parted hers, as their tongues collided. Abby moaned as Luc explored her body with his fingertips. He broke the connection first and cupped one hand behind her head holding her gaze.
“I love you,” he said as his free hand cupped her breast and squeezed her hardened nipple.
“Show me how much,” Abby whispered pulling him towards her once more. Luc hungrily kissed her and for once in her life, Abby’s heart soared into the great beyond, finally feeling complete in Luc’s embrace.

The dry leaves crushed under her weight as she raced through the forest. The moonlight drifted through the canopy giving her just enough light to push through the shadows. Her heart raced as her lung screamed for relief.
“Must keep going,” she panted trying to keep up her frantic speed. She whipped her head around to steal a glance at those who pursued her. In the distance a faint drumming of hooves pounding the ground drifted into her ears.
Fear gripped her heart as a rush of air whipped through her hair sending chills coursing down her spine. Her eyes darted to and from searching for the predator stalking her. Yet, there was nothing she could see. Not even the shadows shifted.
“What are you doing here?” a voice surrounded her causing her to skid to a stop. Her eyes wide with fright scanned the tree line.
“Who are you? Has my husband sent you to find me?” she asked. The fear in her chest tightened as a violent image filled her mind. All she could see was her husband towering over her with vengeance burning in his eyes.
“I do not know your husband. Nor do I know you,” the voice answered. The woman dropped to her knees as the tears peaked over the lids of her eyes and poured down her cheeks.
“Please, you must help me.”
“Must I?”
“My name is Callie, my husband is the lord of this land and those men are going to kill me if you don’t help. Please,” she begged.
“And what crimes have you committed woman?”
“I…” Callie panted as the pounding hooves grew closer. She reached down digging her nails into the soft dirt. “I cannot produce an heir for him. He has grown tired of me,” she confessed. Shame and anguish crushed her spirit as the words spilled from her lips.
“Is that all?” Through the darkness, a shadow emerged darker than the others that surrounded it. “And what do you expect me to do about that?”
“I don’t know.”
“Oh, sure you do. Why else would have come into these woods if you didn’t know what you wanted? Only fools and traitors enter my domain and you don’t appear to be either. Tell me what you’ll have me do lady, and I will see it done.”
A brief flash of Callie’s husband quivering with fear filled her mind. The cold night air pulled through her lips as she gasped.
“Kill them, kill them all,” she whispered.
“And if I shed their blood, what price do you have for payment?”
“You may have my life as well.” Callie dropped her eyes and held them down as her ears filled with the thunder of the horses galloping through the night to claim their mark.
“I will not kill you. Nor will I take the life of your husband.”
“Then let me pass through these woods and make my escape before it’s too late. If you won’t kill me, they will.” Callie forced herself to raise her eyes to the darkness that blocked out the light of the moon.
“I will kill these men and help you restore your honor.”
“How?” Callie’s eyes widened as the darkness drifted like smoke in the wind. The air on the back of her neck prickled as her eyes flashed to and fro. She exhaled as the light of the moon washed over her. T
he darkness that claimed her had vanished, leaving her alone in the middle of the forest.
Callie rose cautiously to her feet as her ears perked. The screams of the men pursuing her filled her ears. She cupped her hand over her mouth as their agony echoed through the trees. Before she could bring herself to run, the darkness swallowed the light of the moon and she knew she wasn’t alone.
“I have done as you requested my lady,” the voice filled the recesses of her mind. It touched the deepest parts of her soul and caressed her every desire.
“Now, you must pay the debt you owe.”
Callie shivered as she stumbled back into a tree. “Show yourself,” she demanded. Her eyes widened as the shadows peeled away to reveal a man.
He was tall, and with his shoulders arched back, he appeared to be a giant the way his shadow threw out over the ground. Callie’s eyes widened as she stood marveling at him. He took a step closer towards her, but she did not move. She stared into his eyes as the silver light of the moon shimmered in them.
“We had an accord,” he said. Callie nodded unable to control her own body. Her mouth popped open as he reached out for her.
“Please,” she begged taking a step towards his outstretched arm. “Tell me your name.”
“Why?” The man’s eyes narrowed. Callie brushed the tips of her fingers over his chest wondering if he was a vision as the scent of salt filled her nose.
“Nathanael,” he whispered pulling her close to him. He wrapped his arms around her tiny body. The heat from his breath tickled her ears as he spoke. But under his words, there was a command that Callie could not ignore.
Before Callie could protest, she found herself pegged between Nathanael and the tree. The bark clawed at her back as Nathanael pulled up the fabric of her skirt and slipped his hand between her thighs. He kept his eyes locked on her.
“I…” Callie started, but the fire burning in his eyes silenced her. Her body shivered as his lips caressed her shoulder and nibbled the length of her neck until he reached her earlobe.
“I’ll be gentle,” he promised. With his hot breath on her ear, Callie’s body trembled. A yearning grew within her as her head screamed for her to run. Conflicted by the emotions, she remained still and closed her eyes as she gave into the desires that Nathanael invoked from her.
His hand brushed across her face, coaxing her from her hiding place. “Look at me,” he said as his lips pressed gently across her jaw line and back down her neck.
She peeked through her eyelids. His eyes burned with the passion of fire consuming the forest. Nathanael stepped back releasing Callie from his grasp. The fabric of her skirt dropped to her ankles and the chill of the night air kissed her skin. The teeth of the bark on her back stopped gnawing, and she sucked in a deep breath trying to clear her mind. She swallowed hard trying to soothe her parched throat.
“Run,” the voice inside her head screamed once his hands dropped from her side. But it was his gaze that locked her in place. She couldn’t run even if she wanted to. The way he stared at her turned her into a living statue.
“I will have you Callie, one way or another. That was the deal. Now, you can either undress for me, or I will do it for you.”
She stared at his unflinching eyes and began tugging at the string holding her dress. The moment the string slipped from the knot, her top fell to her elbows exposing her breasts. A smile played at the corner of his lips as a rush of excitement filled her.
Callie slipped her shirt over her arms and dropped her gaze. The heavy fabric of her garment crashed to the ground at her feet. Quickly she covered her breasts with her arms trying to shield herself from prying eyes. Her nipples hardened from the icy air that licked them. She stepped slowly over her dress and lifted her eyes up to Nathanael.
“Turn around,” he said with a smile stretching across his lips. Callie nodded as she lost control of her body again and obeyed.
“Callie,” her name rolled off his tongue smoothly. The weight of his voice crushed her will as she glanced over her shoulder to look at him.
Her eyes darted to the ground refusing to view his nakedness. He had undressed much faster than her and stood fully exposed as if they were the first man and woman in the garden of Eden unashamed at their bodies. But Callie was very much ashamed. Every fiber in her body screamed adulteress.
Nathanael stood like a statue with his chiseled physique glowing from the light of the moon. To Callie’s eyes he looked like a god of lore which had come down from his high palace. Nathanael stepped closer brushing his fingertips over her bare arm. Callie turned to face him trying to keep her eyes to the ground.
The warmth of his hand on her chin was a relief from the chilly night. She tried to keep her eyes down as he lifted her chin up. She closed her eyes as he pressed his lips to hers. His mouth caressed her and Callie had no other choice but to move with his.
“Open your eyes,” he said between kisses. Callie shook her head trying to fight the urge to obey.
“Please,” he cooed tenderly. The allure of his voice was too much for her to bear and she did as requested. The light in his eyes shifted from silver to gold stunning her. She sucked in a deep breath as he shifted her hands away from her chest and curled them around his waist. The heat from his body burned her skin as their bodies molded together.
A tapping against her inner thigh teased her as his fingers ran down her spine before stopping at the curve of her hips. He slipped his hands around his body and clasped Callie by the wrists. She froze as he guided her arms away from him and lifted them up to the sky. With one hand, he secured both her arms and dropped his free.
Air pulled through her lips as Nathanael slipped his free hand down past her breasts and drifted further down before pushing his fingers into the space between her inner thighs. Her face flushed as she turned her head trying to think of something to distract her from reality. But, no matter how hard she tried to block out Nathanael, the twitching of his fingers held her attention.
“Callie,” her name lingered on the air until she glanced up to him. “What do you see? Am I some hideous monster?”
“No, she forced the word from her lips.
Then why do you shy away from me?”
“What would you have me do?”
“Enjoy the moment. Everything you have ever wanted, I am giving you.”
“I don’t understand,” she huffed as Nathanael’s fingers pushed further into her body.
“Yes you do,” he said leaned towards her. His teeth grazed her earlobe, and she knew the moisture between her legs would give away her desires.
Nathanael released his hand from her wrists. Callie’s arms drifted over his broad shoulders and pulled him to her. With a ravenous appetite, she slipped her tongue into his mouth. Pleasure filled them both as Nathanael groped her breast and pinched her hardened nipple with his finger and thumb. Her body flinched away from the pain and Nathanael laughed sharply before leaned down to sooth her pain with his tongue.
“Do you want more?” he asked pumping his fingers in and out of her.
“Yes,” she hissed throwing her head back and closing her eyes. She knew what she was doing was punishable by death, but she didn’t care. Her husband was going to kill her anyway, at least now, she would have one moment of ecstasy before the final blow. She slipped her hand down his back and cupped her fingers around the cheeks of his butt.
“I want all of you,” she moaned.
“I was hoping you would say that.”
He reached his hand behind his body and tapped on her wrist. Callie let her hand fall and move across his hips until she brushed the length of his erection. With a smile on her face her lustful intentions caught him off guard. Callie wrapped her fingers around his shaft and tugged slowly at the skin until her thumb breached the crown. Quickly she pushed her hand back down and squeezed him tightly.
“When I am done with you, you’ll have everything,” Nathanael snickered.
“And what will you have?” Callie huffed
trying to speak between the pleasure of his fingers.
“An heir that will unite the clans of this region.”
Chapter 1
“Can I open my eyes yet?” Abby twitched nervously shrouded in darkness from the blindfold that covered her eyes. Though she could smell a faint hint of lavender and chocolate, she still didn’t know what tricks Luc had up his sleeve. She’d only known Luc a few months, but with each passing day, her heart filled with more admiration and love than she had ever experienced before.
A smile pulled at the corner of her lips as her imagination ran away with her. She envisioned pulling back the strap to find a romantic cottage in the middle of nowhere, where she and Luc could get better acquainted. The thought of ripping Luc’s clothes off and basking in the morning light thrilled her.
“Okay, you can take it off,” Luc finally said pulling her out of her daydream. Abby quickly drew her hands up and peeled off the thin fabric covering her eyes. Her mouth dropped as her heart sank.
“Well?” Luc said with his face beaming with pride. Abby glanced around the pristine room. Light poured in from the over-sized windows that reached up to the open-beamed ceiling. She tried to force a genuine smile as she turned to him.
“This is great,” she grumbled as her eyes drifted to the cream plush couch in the center of the room to the large oak table near the kitchen and the bookshelves that lined the walls. She shook her head and rolled her eyes when she scanned the back wall to find a shield with swords crossed over it. She glared at the jewel inlaid swords and huffed as she continued to scan the room.
The decor was a bit out of Abby’s taste, but everything about the place suited Luc just fine. She could picture him sitting in the red velvet chair in the corner of the room with one of his dusty books in his hand or admiring the view outside on the balcony while sipping something strong from a crystal glass. But when she tried to picture herself here, the vision was faint.
